Follow-up on the Topic of Purpose

I promised to provide more detail regarding the topic of purpose in yesterday’s post, Today Was a Good Day. Check out the article The Power of Purpose in Psychology Today.

So how does one discover their purpose? And once you discover your purpose, how do you align your actions towards that purpose?

You have to look in your past and try to remember those experiences that gave you the greatest sense of accomplishment. For example if you remember feeling good about yourself when caring for sick family member, maybe your purpose in life is helping sick people. To align your actions towards that purpose, you may want to consider a career in the medical field.

For me, I’ve always enjoyed helping people achieve more. I believe that we need to do whatever we can to make the most of the time we have. I’ve focused on that purpose and have even passed on opportunities that would have meant more money. Over the long run, I’ve been more successful financially than I would have been had I focused solely on money.
